Sr. System Engineer (LED Lighting)
Resilient Lighting is looking for Senior System Engineer to lead product architecture planning and development for our LED and Plasma luminaires. This is a key role with high visibility in driving firm’s charter of providing tough and elegant luminaire solutions to industrial lighting verticals. We are looking for an energetic and decisive individual to lead early stages of product development. The position is based in Santa Clara, CA and will involve 30% travel to customer sites in US and R&D/Production facilities in China.
Resilient is a brand of Luma Investments (parent company of LUXIM and JK lighting) focused on serving the lighting needs of industrial and transport sectors such as ports, food & beverage processing plants, heavy industrial sites. We develop ‘Tough Light’ for tough requirements, environments and standards.
Job Description
- Work with strategic marketing partners to concept, develop and prototype LED and Plasma luminaires for industrial lighting segments
- Work with industrial design house to develop consistent design language across portfolio of luminaire products
- Work with Center of Excellence to ensure concepts are productized in one of Resilient’s manufacturing sites
- Work with R&D sites to specify component technology needs and roadmap
- Perform cost benefit analysis on LED and plasma lighting architectures for long term product planning
- Lead thinking in new technologies related to LED and Plasma luminaires
Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in luminaire design, development and productization using HID, LED, or Plasma light source
- 3+ years of experience in developing LED platforms for lighting
- Intimate knowledge of safety and regulatory standards for industrial lighting (UL, CE, NSF, Haz. Loc.)
- Intimate knowledge of LED supply chain (device and light engine) and lighting industry
- Intimate knowledge of industrial design concepts
- Working knowledge of outdoor and industrial lighting segments
- Working knowledge of photometric testing and lighting layout
- Working knowledge of lighting control systems and opto-electronics
- Working knowledge of product development processes and engineering documentation
- Ability to manage to project goals and motivate team members
- Ability to communicate in Chinese (Mandarin) is a plus
