Product Manager–Visionaire Lighting

Visionaire Lighting is a leading manufacturer of high-performance, specification-grade LED & HID outdoor lighting fixtures & poles.  Our markets include parking lots for office complexes, schools, and shopping centers; as well as auto dealerships, tennis courts, street lighting; and many other applications.

Visionaire Lighting’s plants are all vertically integrated and include die casting, sand casting, metal spinning and fabrication as well as a state of the art powder coat paint facility. A new LED lab and SMT assembly area assure quality and timely production of all of our LED products.

SUMMARY:           The position of Product Manager (PM) has been established to enhance the process and quality of the development, marketing and release of new category lighting products for Visionaire Lighting.  The Product Manager is responsible for product planning and execution through the entire product lifecycle.  Listening to the market, the Product Manager gathers, prioritizes and communicates product requirements that drive the development of market-drive products and solutions that support the company’s overall strategy and goals.  This position is responsible for analyzing and understanding market needs, developing product requirements, and executing to the product roadmap with timely and highly functional releases. 

REPORTING: Reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing (EVP).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Defines requirements: product market/product requirements documents.
  • Coordinates cross-functional team activities before, during and after the product release cycle.
  • Develops product release plans/schedules/project charters working closely with Sales and engineering to ensure customer needs, product quality standards and delivery deadlines are met.
  • Manages product portfolio life cycle, from design and development to end-of-life
  • Lays out features/enhancement roadmaps based on the corporate Strategic Vision
  • Serves as a resource for, and acts as go-to product expert for sales support in product demos, client briefings and technical conference calls
  • Supports Marketing teams with go-to marketing activities including press releases, collateral and trade show debuts via multiple outlets
  • Works closely with Sales and Marketing managers to create a full suite of collateral, including: white papers, presentations, product datasheets, webinars and other sales support tools
  • Follows the product into the field to ensure customer success and participates in prospect and customer calls. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, SKILL & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, Business, Marketing or relevant field (equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of education), MBA is a plus.
  • Proven track record in building new products and introducing them to market with a minimum of 5+ years in a firm focused in the lighting industry.
  • Comfortable interacting with a variety of stakeholders with a demonstrated ability to lead through influence
  • A quick learner, with decision making, problem solving and analytical capabilities
  • Effective and clear written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and multiple people simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills with great attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to juggle different tasks and effectively balance priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment driven by new and emerging technologies
  • Customers calls and meetings to gather requirements and resolve issues
  • Establishes and implements product pricing strategy for new and existing products
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of pertinent policies, emerging technology and competitive trend
  • Provides executive-level communication/presentation of results, strategies, actions to the Company’s Leadership
  • Represents Visionaire Lighting at industry trade shows, conferences and appropriate events.
