Product Manager, Industrial Lighting Products, LLC – Sanford, FL  Founded in 2002, Industrial Lighting Products, LLC (ILP) is a Florida based manufacturer of energy efficient LED, Fluorescent, and Induction based lighting for commercial, industrial, and outdoor applications offering a wide range of lighting products for both retrofit and new construction opportunities.

With a direct reporting relationship to the President, the Product Manager will direct the expansion of the ILP catalog by identifying new markets for entry and developing a strategy for the building blocks of the products.  This will include identifying suppliers for LED light engines, drivers, and castings for outdoor luminaires as well as internally manufactured parts for indoor products.  The Product Manager will interact with key clients and agents to get market feedback on product opportunities and pricing targets.  The Product Manager will interact with the Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Sales Managers to prioritize development, set stocking levels and reorder points, and market message for product support. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an engineering road map that sets the priorities for product development.
  • Interact with key clients to identify market opportunities and pricing targets.
  • Select key vendors for castings, LED light engines, drivers, optics and other key components.
  • Interact with and visit international vendors to find existing parts for integration or launch or suppliers for the creation of new parts to launch.
  • Develop costing models for new product opportunities and verify that the product can be launched while recognizing the desired margins.
  • Continue and expand a building block approach for LED components while selecting key suppliers and components to integrate.
  • Direct the creation of literature, packaging, webinars, and pricing strategies to launch to the market.
  • Create training materials to train internal and external sales people on how to sell the product and how it fits in the market.
  • Work with purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels to support the demand throughout the product life cycle.
  • Forecast product demand and prioritize development based on market timing and opportunity.
  • Engage with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss product specifications, customer requirements, processes, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and direct projects by making detailed plans to achieve project targets and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Direct, review, and approve all new product designs as well as existing product design changes under ETL standard design guidelines.
  • Travel to customers, suppliers, and other ILP facilities required. Manage product launch activities including design, prototype, testing, and production launch.
  • Lead Product Development Team in the preparation of product cost analysis of prototype and new series production products, which can then be utilized for customer quotation responses.
  • Provides technical support to Sales and Marketing team in terms of product training, customer and supplier technical presentations, customer problem resolution, establishing marketing strategy, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years in the lighting industry working with LED product development.
    • Outdoor luminaire fixture design
    • International sourcing for LED components
    • DLC and Energy Star requirements
    • Trends in LED technology
    • Optical design
  • Bachelor’s level education required in business or science related field.  MBA preferred but not required.
  • Ability to conceptualize mechanical components and component interactions.
  • Excellent communication /presentation skills.
  • Well organized, self-driven, process and data-driven.
  • Ability to manage engineering resources to provide effective product designs and validation of all products.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
