Product Development / Project Manager–American Lighting

Product Development / Project Manager

 Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years experience

Qualifications:

  • Experience with LED lighting technology
  • Ability to understand lighting systems as a whole and in part to determine functionality based on installation, performance and sales requirements
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability work with multiple departments and disciplines
  • Proficient understanding of the product development lifecycle
  • Experience with manufacturing cultures in Asian countries a plus
  • Experience with sheet metal bending, plastic injection and/or aluminum die-cast design preferred
  • Ability to work independently, and balance and manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with UL, ETL, DLC, Energy Star and/or RoHs a plus
  • Proficiency with office communications tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook required

Responsibilities:

  • Develop product guidelines that include details and verbiage to fully describe our product expectations to our manufacturing partners
  • Share product guidelines and inspection plans with manufacturing partners and inspection teams; review inspection reports confirming adherence to guidelines for product consistency, performance and manufacturing quality
  • Complete review of pre-production samples prior to mass production
  • Review current lighting products available in the market to determine new opportunities, including competitive analysis for major product categories
  • Assist our sourcing partners with performance and installation requirements in order to gather viable new product samples that meet our new product development needs
  • Testing, review and presentation of product samples for sales and marketing feedback
  • Critique of new product samples for possible design improvements and/or modifications
  • Gather and record new product data and cost information for import to active product status
  • Ongoing communication with manufacturing partners and ongoing project management
  • Aid in new vendor evaluation and inspection procedures when needed

Additional Information:

  • Travel to Asia is required 2-3 times a year
  • Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
