GENERAL:
The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Director of New Product Development and will be responsible for the creation of new product designs for dmfLIGHTING. The Mechanical Engineer will also work on improvements to existing dmfLIGHTING products, and on custom or special solutions for dmfLIGHTING clients when warranted.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Develop cutting-edge, new products from conception to production release
• Design products to optimize manufacturability, aesthetics, and performance
• Prepare design drawings from sketches or specifications
• Improve design of current lighting fixtures
• Create modifications of existing fixtures for custom jobs
• Develop all mechanical and electrical drawings, AutoCad or SolidWorks modeling.
• Provide technical support to sales teams and customers in diagnosing, troubleshooting and documenting technical problems and field issues
• Review and modify product designs to fulfill customer orders
• Creates and maintains Bill of Material guidelines
SPECIFICATIONS:
• Motivated self-starter
• Resourceful and proactive
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team setting
• Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner (written and oral)
• BS – Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with Solidworks
• Knowledgeable in design technologies for machined parts, sheet metal, plastic extrusion and injection molding, aluminum extrusion and casting, spinning, electrical connectors and wiring, electronic assemblies.
• 5-10 years of product design experience
