Group Leader Job Summary:
The group leader is responsible for the production and effectiveness of their assigned work areas or cells. The group lead reports to the Focus Factory Manager at our high velocity manufacturing and distribution center located near the Dallas Fort Worth Airport in Dallas, TX. The group leader is a key team member who must be able to lead hourly associates and collaborate with Buyer Planners and focus factory engineers to ensure the operation runs at peak production to satisfy customer demand at all times with minimal intervention or overtime.
Group Leader Requirements:
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Must be able to lead and motivate others effectively
•Must have basic computer skills.
•Must be able to read, write and perform basic math.
•Must possess good communication and leadership skills.
Group Leader Job Responsibilities:
•Ensure all employees work safely and in an environmentally compliant manner
•Provide Leadership to employees by developing employees in all aspects of the job, making routine decisions and trouble shooting
•Ensure all employees know and follow LEAN, (5S, STD Work, Kanban, etc)
•Drive KPI’s of area, (+QDIP); Must drive continuous improvement mindset with team; Direct the hourly workforce to insure production efficiencies are met and safety is practiced.
•Ensure employees operate at Cycle time by anticipating and responding to issues
•Staging material for employees to assure flow
•Assure compliance with appropriate quality standards/requirements
•Stepping in and assisting as needed, Instruct employees on processes
•Ensure employees have tools and materials to perform job functions
•Responsible for Visual Management of area, (Hr by Hr, +QDIP, SW docs, KB, Schedule, etc)
•Accurately maintain necessary records and Maintain work area, production reports and boards.
•Must be able to perform any job in assigned work area
•Must be able to train new employees or replacement employees
•Work with supervision to correct problems that arise during shift
•Must be an effective decision maker
