We need a Lighting Fixture Engineer to help us create and build exciting decorative lighting fixtures for high-end commercial customers. Much of our work is low-volume, specialized, and highly decorative. We sell primarily to architects, national retailers, hotels and hospitality companies. What you will do

  • Work with our internal salespeople and outside vendors on the development of new products.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Specify system components to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Design components for in-house production that are consistent with internal production capabilities.
  • Prepare documentation such as descriptions and specifications of components, production-related drawings, product costs, reports on conformance to safety or performance standards, and descriptions of required components and processes for production.
  • Evaluate prototypes and make design modifications based on factors such as cost, system capabilities, and customer review.
  • Work with production team to inspect products to ensure conformance to specifications and safety standards.

Knowledge that you bring to the table

  • Engineering and Technology — You must know the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of the goods and services we provide.
  • Design — You must know the design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
  • Basic Mechanics – Knowledge of physical interaction between connected items and actions/reactions. Understanding of geometry and strength of shapes.
  • Electrical – Knowledge of basic AC and DC electrical circuits.

Requirements

  • Work Experience: A minimum of four years of design and/or engineering experience is required.
  • Education: A college degree in engineering and/or design.
  • Computer Background: Must be proficient in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office applications, and general computer use.
  • Work schedule: You are able to work weekdays, 8am to 5pm, with occasional nights and weekends.
