Summary:

Cree Lighting is looking for a self-motivated, hands-on lighting controls manager with a wireless network background to drive innovation within the industry leading LED based lighting products.  This individual will be responsible for defining the technology direction, developing a team to support the product development and assuring execution to the plan.  Individual will work within cross functional groups consisting of product development, R&D and marketing to identify and develop next generation lighting controls platforms.  A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver that is able to work around technical obstacles, implement practical solutions and successfully partner with the Cree’s worldwide design, project management and manufacturing organizations.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers within Cree Lighting.  Deliver results by providing technical and project leadership with a focus on innovation. 
  • Interface and communicate with internal customers to develop strong relationships supporting a team environment.
  • Define and execute on control strategies for Cree product development and integration of third party controls solutions. 
  • Plan and allocate appropriate engineering resources for projects and provide scheduling, resource planning, and capital equipment budget plans. 
  • Define technology roadmap and communicate how technology roadmap intersects and impacts product roadmap. 

 Requirements:

  • BS Electrical Engineering Degree
  • 5+ years of managing a team of engineers in a technology environment. 
  • Expert in wireless mesh network development
  • Knowledge of Zigbee, 802.15.4, 6LowPAN, wireless controls
  • Multidiscipline knowledge base including sensors, database management, firmware development, software development, and electrical circuit design. 
  • Familiar with communication methods used in embedded design.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
  • Resourceful, hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to work around technical obstacles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Willing and open to travel – both domestic and international.
  • Self Starter, capable of keeping up with a fast development pace. 

 Preferences:

  • Experience designing Solid State LED Lighting products.
  • Lighting controls development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results leveraging outside partners to supplement Cree development teams.
