Acuity Brands, Inc. a North American market leader and one of the world's leading providers of lighting solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications, is seeking a highly motivated and results driven Graphic Designer for our product marketing group, reporting to the Marketing Services Manager.
•Responsible for creation and production of print, online, and interactive visual design, including websites, emails, collateral, illustrations, photo retouching, typography, logo and icon design.
•Responsible for shepherding print projects from the initial design phase through the printing stage by preflighting files for press and personally attending press checks to make sure all the printing requirements are met.
•Effectively communicate and coordinate with the marketing manager to ensure the visual design communicates the desired message to the targeted end-user.
•Art direct photo shoots and video shoots.
•Candidate must be capable of leading the creative aspects of a project and have demonstrated strong business acumen.
•Adhere to Lithonia Lighting and Acuity Brands brand/design standards.
•Build relationships with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Creates eye-catching attractive graphics for our marketing literature (print and web) which will help spur greater sales of the company's products and position our company in the minds of our customers and competitors as an innovative leader in the field of lighting. Must accomplish this while adhering to Lithonia Lighting and Acuity Brands standards.
Keep abreast of new products and innovations to existing products by attending training sessions, talking with people from the product group and marketing manager about the products. This supplies the insight needed in order to present the products in graphic designs and Illustrations in a way that highlights their best features.
Keeps graphic program skills up to date by attending educational seminars and classes which are offered within the company and outside the company and by reading instructional magazines, watching online instructional videos and practicing the new skills in job projects.
Collaborate with the Marketing Services Manager to create powerful marketing materials. Present and explain design concepts to internal clients. Direct architectural and product photo shoots. Analyze competitor's marketing literature and advertisements to arrive at a different and better approach to graphically presenting our company's products and services.

•Submissions without an online portfolio or links to work will not be considered
•Technical proficiency in design, layout, illustration, typography, photography and photo-retouching for print and web.
•Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suites -- InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver with ability to learn and adopt new software/technologies as they become available.
•Basic technical knowledge of how web-based technologies apply to web design such as HTML, Flash, and CSS
•Troubleshoot creative design and/or technical issues at a good pace.
•Proven knowledge of preflighting files for print including 2-color, 4-color, 6-color printing with multiple varnishes-both offset and direct to press printing.
•Effectively work with a team, manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
•Attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Must be able to communicate visually, verbally and in writing; must be a skilled listener in order to understand what message to convey through design.
•Associates or Bachelors Degree in Graphics Design or Illustration
