We currently have an opening for a Commodity Manager within our Materials group. 

Summary:
We currently have an opening for a Supplier Relations  in our Lighting Manufacturing group.  This position can be located in Racine, WI or Raleigh/Durham, NC.

The primary focus of this position will be to provide support for planning, sourcing and procurement initiatives for mechanical components from cradle to grave. The candidate will develop risk mitigation/sourcing strategies and complex agreements in a dynamic supply chain environment. The candidate may be working with project team members in other geographic locations and needs to be able to understand and react to the needs of all internal customers and compensate for disparity with increased communication. The candidate will work closely with teams that consist of Project Managers, Engineering Teams, Planning Teams, R&D Teams, Peer Procurement Professionals, and other internal organizations (legal, audit, finance, etc).

 Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit strong strategic thinking capability with a high level of negotiation skills
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical components
  • Must be highly motivated and results focused
  • Execute in a fast paced environment and have full knowledge of risks associated with the decision making of purchasing strategies and negotiations
  • Develop and manage all applicable activities associated with sourcing, procurement, delivery and cost analysis of mechanical components
  • Support all procurement activities in support of engineering and consigned goods for contract manufacturing
  • Collaborate with internal customers to coordinate NPI activities and qualification processes
  • Develop and conduct competitive bid processes in order to achieve best cost strategies at the new introductory stage on all new products
  • Routinely competitive bid sustaining components and follow up on potential cost savings strategies for sustaining production
  • Analyze, initiate, plan, and execute all Materials related actions in order to achieve CREE Promise Delivery Dates to Customers
  • Analyze assigned component and raw materials in support of Finished Goods demand.  Initiate Requisitions, Change Orders, and any other applicable actions to support Engineering (NPI) and Contract Manufacturing (Production) production plans and/or inventory objectives
  • Work with Logistics on the import/export of goods between our global suppliers and the US
  • Quickly and proactively resolve and/or escalate issues as they apply to areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Travel as required to perform functions listed above.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • 5-7 years experience in materials with direct experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), R&D, and /or engineering support environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading sourcing initiatives and consistently delivering TCO reductions.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and management of complex Bills of Materials.
  • Experience working in team environment toward common goals.
  • Self motivated individual with sense of urgency, requiring little direction.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Import/Export Procedures/Policies
  • Must be able to occasionally work flexible hours
  • Must be able to occasionally travel globally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of materials planning including forecasting and MRP.
  • Strong problem solving skills, issue resolution and change management in dealing with suppliers.
  • In depth knowledge of a global supply base.
  • Proven credibility as a sourcing and supply professional with contract management skills.
  • Initiates and acts on continuous improvement opportunities.
