Orion Files Suit Against its Former CEO’s Company, Energy Bank

EDISONREPORT FLASHBACK–29 SEP 2012:  Orion’s Neal Verfuerth Out as CEO: Our Board felt it was time for Neal, after some well-deserved time off,…”

MANITOWOC, Wis.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, Orion Energy Systems, Inc. (OESX), a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance, energy-efficient retrofit lighting platforms, filed a complaint in the United States Eastern Wisconsin District Court against Energy Bank, Inc. of Manitowoc Wisconsin for alleged patent infringements and unfair competition under the Lanham Act. Orion has an extensive patent portfolio totaling 70 granted and 27 pending.

In its claim against Energy Bank, Orion alleges Energy Bank has made claims and references that it owns Orion’s patents in violation of federal statutes and Orion’s patent rights. During the past eight months, Orion filed two other patent violation complaints in federal court with successful resolution. Orion values its patents and will defend them vigorously when an infringement situation arises.

Recently, William C. Griesbach, Chief Judge of the United States Eastern Wisconsin District Court, ruled in Orion’s favor and dismissed all claims Energy Bank’s CEO, Neal Verfuerth, made with respect to Orion’s ownership of its entire patent portfolio.
