Japan Shuts Off Lights to Save Power

In a first for modern Japan, rolling blackouts were scheduled to begin and officials appealed to the owners of shops, restaurants and nightclubs to unplug the garish lighting displays that dot the capital of the world’s third largest economy.


In Ginza, one of the brightest shopping areas in the world, and home to the likes of Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, flagship stores were asked to switch off the dazzling arrays that usually assault tourists’ senses. Read the story at The Telegraph
