IES Names Tim Licitra Executive Vice President

New York, NY — The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) is proud to announce and welcome Timothy (“Tim”) Licitra as Executive Vice President, effective October 19, 2015. Tim succeeds William Hanley, who retired in December 2014. Licitra will be responsible for the overall management of IES, implementing organizational strategy, leading IES staff and volunteers, managing operational priorities and programs, and developing and implementing IES’s relevant plans and policies, all designed to meet the needs of the Society’s members.

Licitra comes to IES from the Market Technicians Association, Inc. (MTA), where he served in a variety of capacities for a decade, most recently as Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer. MTA is a $2 million global association of professionals in the financial industry with over 4,500 members in 85 countries. As CEO, Tim’s responsibilities included staff leadership, board governance, and strategic planning; budget and financial management; and managing volunteer engagement and leadership development. Previous MTA positions included Managing Director, Development and Marketing Director.

Licitra and his family reside in Shrewsbury, NJ. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island and holds an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Rutgers–The State University of New Jersey.

“We are very happy to welcome Tim to the IES family,” said Mark Roush, IES President. “Tim is a successful and energetic association executive with a portfolio that addresses the needs and priorities identified by the IES Board to move the organization forward. His management experience and track record for organizational growth will serve the IES members, staff and board well as we continue to adapt to the changing needs of the lighting industry. Tim will take IES through implementation of our six–year strategic plan. His association management career and his passion for growth and strategic direction make him the ideal choice to lead IES.”

“We also wish to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to immediate Past–President, Paul Mercier, who has and continues to serve with distinction as Acting Executive Vice President since January. Paul has gone above and beyond to keep IES operational,” Roush added.

“I am excited to join the IES team and look forward to the tremendous things that our leaders, volunteers and staff will do to enhance the profession and serve our members in the months and years ahead. I look forward to engaging with our members, volunteer leaders, staff, and partners as IES enters its 110th year of serving the lighting industry. With our leadership team, we will work to ensure that IES remains an indispensable part of our members’ success,” Licitra said.

A six–member committee appointed by the IES Board led the search effort over a four–month period. IES retained the services of Sterling Martin Associates, a Washington, DC–based executive search firm with offices in New York, San Francisco, and Orange County, California, to help with the recruitment.
