PHILADELPHIA — LumenOptix, the industry leader in the retrofit-luminaire market space, announced Govi Rao has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Mr Rao presently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Noveda Technologies, the leader in web-based real-time energy monitoring systems.
Prior to joining Noveda, Mr Rao was most recently Chairman of Lighting Science Group Corporation and a Partner in Pegasus Sustainable Century Merchant Bank.
A pioneering leader of sustainability across several industries, Mr Rao brings more than 15 years of global business experience to the LumenOptix board, including leadership roles in the lighting industry, building products, specialty chemicals, and coatings. Along with Jane Goodall and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Mr. Rao was honored by the Liberty Science Center in April 2011 for his dedication to improving commercial-scale energy sustainability. Mr Rao has testified before Congress numerous times regarding climate change and international intellectual property rights and was most recently the keynote speaker at the World Energy Conference in Tel Aviv, Israel.
As Vice President and General Manager of the Philips Solid State Lighting business in North America, Mr. Rao played a leading role in the early development of the US Solid-State Lighting market. Mr. Rao’s previous responsibilities with Philips Lighting include Senior Director of its professional lighting business and Vice President of Business Creation and Brand. He is a founding member of the advisory board at the Institute for Sustainable Enterprise at Fairleigh Dickinson University and serves on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Technology Council and the Advisory Board at the Rutgers Chemistry and Chemical Biology department.
