Current, powered by GE, sponsors the annual GE Edison Award competition. Your humble editor did not score an invitation to the event this year, but neither did many of the other regulars. Fortunately we had a few sources at the event and here is what we learned:
- Current host a more intimate affair designed for this year’s nominees, winners and past winners.
- It was hosted at the Hard Rock, which was more of a contemporary venue than in the past.
- Because I did not attend, Current knew they could have an open bar and not break the bank. Also heard that the food was wonderful!
- In essence Current is transforming this event as they transformed their booth (no GE Logo) and as they are transforming their business.It is more of a unique club.
- Our sources say the redesigned event seemed to be more meaningful to the specifiers that were there.
- Clearly GE wants to recognize the use of their LED products.
