CLTC to Ink Deal with Navy

The California Lighting Technology Center plans to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the University of California, Davis and the Department of the Navy at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the CLTC facility.

UC Davis Provost Ralph Hexter and Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations, and environment, will sign the MOA, and a reception will follow.

The goal of the MOA is a collaboration between the Navy and CLTC to install and demonstrate adaptive exterior lighting technologies at military facilities for improved safety and energy savings. Suitable interior lighting technologies also will be applied.

Pfannenstiel previously served as chair of the California Energy Commission, which funds CLTC research, development, and demonstration through the Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program. As assistant secretary, Pfannenstiel develops procedures and plans for the Navy’s safety, energy, and environment programs.

This event is being planned by the Energy Efficiency Center.
