Summary:
The Sr. Director of Product Development position is responsible for
delivering novel solid state lighting projects on time and within budget
requirements by leading contract engineering firms, the US-based design
team, and global contract manufacturing partners. This self-motivated,
hands-on leader will engineer solid state lighting solutions that will
minimize cost, enhance quality or performance, and meet critical product
launch milestones. A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem
solver able that is able to work around technical obstacles and will be
adept at the implementation of practical solutions.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
o
Play an
integral role in the development, design, and transition to manufacturing of LED
lighting solutions through both individual and team contributions.
o
Manage all
requirements for assigned lighting projects which include product design,
schedule execution, contract manufacturer management for engineering builds, and
on-going cost reduction activities.
o
Serve as a
direct interface between global contract manufacturers, vendors, and US-based
corporate team.
o
Work across
company functional organizations to ensure project success.
o
Successfully
translate small scale prototype processes into high yield/high volume
manufacturing processes.
o
Interact,
develop, and qualify raw material and tool vendors for lighting projects.
o
Provide
training to other personnel to improve over-all capabilities and knowledge.
o
Implementation of New Product Introduction process that rapidly designs,
develops, and productizes concepts. This process must be robust and scalable to
ensure continuous new product leadership capability.
o
Responsible
for LED system product planning and roadmap and communication of schedules to
Senior Management.
Minimum
Qualifications:
o
BS in
Mechanical Engineering, Materials or Electrical Engineering with more than 10
years of experience in product development and manufacturing.
o
Demonstrated
knowledge of LED components, LED lighting systems, and LED testing is
preferable.
o
Ability to
work independently and be self-sufficient while managing multiple projects.
o
Excellent
written and verbal communication skills is required.
o
US Citizen or
Green Card holder
o
Willing and
open to travel - both domestic and international.
o
Demonstrated
project management abilities.
o
Resourceful,
hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to work around
technical obstacles.
o
Ability to
manage a technical team with significant level of experience.
